I'm certain I'm making a simple mistake here, but can't find it. Here's what I'm executing, using mysql 3.23.43-log:
[I'm root when I run this] #mysql -p mysql mysql> grant all on zope.* to zope identified by "xxxxxxx"; Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec) mysql> select * from user where user="zope"; +------+------+------------------+-------------+-------------+-------------+-------------+-------------+-----------+-------------+---------------+--------------+-----------+------------+-----------------+------------+------------+ | Host | User | password | Select_priv | Insert_priv | Update_priv | |Delete_priv | Create_priv | Drop_priv | Reload_priv | Shutdown_priv | Process_priv | |File_priv | Grant_priv | References_priv | Index_priv | Alter_priv | +------+------+------------------+-------------+-------------+-------------+-------------+-------------+-----------+-------------+---------------+--------------+-----------+------------+-----------------+------------+------------+ | % | zope | 34577362486f3680 | N | N | N | N | | N | N | N | N | N | N || N | N | N | N | +------+------+------------------+-------------+-------------+-------------+-------------+-------------+-----------+-------------+---------------+--------------+-----------+------------+-----------------+------------+------------+ 1 row in set (0.00 sec) mysql> My questions: 1. Why didn't this work? 2. If it had worked, would I have seen something other than "zero records affected" in response to the GRANT command? I search the recent messages on GRANT and found the suggestion to run mysql_fix_privilege_tables. It seemed to run correctly, but didn't change anything. Thanks for helping this newbie. -Kevin Zembower ----- E.
