How does MySQL determine hostnames when checking access permissions? I assume it uses whatever methods are available to the system (/etc/hosts, NIS, DNS, etc...). Will it use those services in the order they are listed in nsswitch.conf (Solaris)? What about for determining its local hostname? Does it use the hostname function?
