What I do with my mail server is to filter out all known "opt-in" 
mailing list companies, not just their host name, but their net-block!  
If the mail server doesn't have such options, try the router level, 
firewalls or ACLs...  Also adopted recently is the use of ORBZ, though 
sometimes legitimate message gets rejected.
