Have u encountered this kind of query?

mysql> select edate from traffic where year(edate)='2001' group by
month(edate);

| 2001-09-01 |
| 2001-10-30 |

mysql> select count(*) from traffic;
+----------+
| count(*) |
+----------+
|  2645563 |
+----------+
1 row in set (0.00 sec)

mysql>

is there a problem with my select statement?...
