As bizarre as it sounds, it works now. I thought just on a whim I would try it again. I scrolled up and used the exact same commands as before (without retyping them) and it worked fine.
I don't know what was wrong, but I suspect it may have had something to do with the amount of activity of MySQL stuff on my server at the time. Thanks all for your input!
