Hi,

I successfully used gcc 2.95.3 and libc.so.6 to compile MySQL 4.0.1.
There are some good reasons for not using the binary e.g. when you compile
on a SuSE box with its proprietary file tree.

But the question remains: what is the penalty for sticking with an old
compiler? Will future releases remain compilable with 2.95.3?
