Everybody, I would guess. Two thoughtless subscribers have let their
e-mail accounts fall into disuse without unsubscribing. So, when you post,
you get the bounce message from those two users' incoming e-mail servers.

I did not put [EMAIL PROTECTED] in by hand on this message. I just hit
Reply to All.

If this list were configured on the list server in the way you suggest,
then to send a private reply, you _would_ have to put the address in by
hand, since every list message's header would be set up so that either
Reply or Reply to All actually addressed the message to the list.

What we are up against, IMO, is a poor choice in the design of e-mail
software. I'm not sure in my own mind whether it is a list server design
issue, or an e-mail client issue, or whether it's a sub-optimal choice of
headers in the e-mail RFC. IAC, it all works this way. It's a very
frustrating choice for a list administrator to have to make.

I think the best we can do is to agree that the default behavior of list
members should be to hit the Reply to All button.

HTH.

(No, actually, it doesn't help, does it? Hope it makes you feel edified.)
