Matt, I tried this and still no cigar. The only difference that I could see was that the mysql.server file location was different, i.e. /usr/local/share/mysql/mysql.server, mine exists in /usr/share/mysql/mysql.server. I altered the script to reflect this but still the process does not start. Also I noticed that there was already a mysqld script in /etc/rc.d/init.d, I renamed and then created yours. Thoughts/Ideas?
