There is no built-in graphically interface for running MySQL. It's all command line, meaning you need to use your terminal. You absolutely must read something on how to use MySQL. There are a lot of good books out there, I used "MySQL" by Paul DuBois (who is also on this list).

MySQL is a database engine, which kind of works like FileMaker Server if you are familiar with that.
