When I start MySQL with "mysql -u root -p" I get again the error 1045 ("Access denied for user: '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' (Using password: YES)". What am I doing wrong ?

Thanks for the advise. However I have some additional questions: ad 2) How can I check the grant privileges ? ad 3) How can I "run this as the mysql root user" ?
mysql -u root -p enter the root password you set when you installed mysql use mysql enter the grant command.
