So, maybe it was a bug that was fixed in 4.0.16; how do I upgrade to v4.0.16? I'm sort of a novice with MySQL and am using what was pre-installed with Apple's Panther_server -- have never installed it myself.

Which is wrong.

I wasn't able to repeat it on v4.0.16:

mysql> SELECT date_close, aircraft, route FROM Avail_Legs ORDER BY date_close;
+---------------------+----------+-----------+
| date_close | aircraft | route |
+---------------------+----------+-----------+

+---------------------+----------+-----------+
3 rows in set (0.00 sec)

Is this a known bug? Is there a workaround?
