Is there any reason that you need to "sum" the id? I'm assuming that
you're trying to "count". Ya?

Subject: 'Sum' syntax

I'm using v3.23.51 on Linux.

Can anyone explain why a simple 'sum' select won't work?? Here is the
example:

mysql> select sum (id), pet from visits group by pet;
ERROR 1064: You have an error in your SQL syntax near '(id), pet from
visits group by pet' at line 1
