Hi there. I want to know what mysql provides.

I want to start mysql manually so i write
/etc/init.d/mysqld restart
The mysql stops running succesfully but what it's time to start the mysqld i get a
failed message.
I am at loss because i can connect to the database remotely and insest, select
records e.t.c

Here is the log file
less /var/log/mysqld.log

"a mysqld process already exists since ........."

What can i do to fix it up?
