Increasing number of sockets

[Robert Canary]

I am getting an error on my radius server asking 
me to increase the number of sockets on mysql.

I'm looking the man pages for safe_mysqld and 
mysql but I don't see anything that offers to 
provision this.

How does increase the number of sockets on the mysql?
