I haven't tried this yet but streamclip will convert mpeg to dv. iMovie should then be able to import it, but I'm not sure what kind of quality loss you'll have with this. http://www.alfanet.it/squared5/mpegstreamclip.html -- I probably still have a few (well, now a whole bunch) gmail invites.
