Graham,

I managed to get mythtv working with the TV402U, but I stumbled into a few hurdles too. I used the kernel-multimedia-2.6.11-9.mm.2mdk, which includes the go7007 drivers. The next step was getting the firmware loaded. These were the steps I took:

Copy the hotplug scripts:

   cp ~/wis-go7007-linux-0.9.4/hotplug/wis.usermap-ezusb
   /etc/hotplug/usb/wis-ezusb.usermap
   cp ~/wis-go7007-linux-0.9.4/hotplug/wis-ezusb.in
   /etc/hotplug/usb/wis-ezusb

Copy the firmware:

   cp -R ~/wis-go7007-linux-0.9.4/firmware/* /lib/firmware/

I needed to modify the wis-ezusb script a bit to get it to work:

   diff ~/wis-go7007-linux-0.9.4/hotplug/wis-ezusb.in
   /etc/hotplug/usb/wis-ezusb -ur
   --- /root/wis-go7007-linux-0.9.4/hotplug/wis-ezusb.in 2005-03-16

The fxload package needs to be installed, and the /etc/hotplug.d/default/20-hal.hotplug symlink removed, otherwise the firmware won't load. This may be a Mandriva issue. See:

http://groups.google.nl/group/alt.os.linux.mandrake/browse_thread/thread/e5465be0c95b2231/f5aef2e102d7794f?q=go7007&rnum=2&hl=xx-elmer#f5aef2e102d7794f

I then managed to capture a .avi file with the "gorecord" application. Then I went to mythtv, and when I pressed "c", the input would change, but what I saw on the screen didn't. I noticed the the following messages (unsupported ioctl) in syslog:

My hunch is that mythtv may be doing something wrong when trying to change the input connections. The trick I used was to record something with gorecord, on the input that you want to use in mythtv. Then, turn on mythtv and you'll be able to use it.

PS: CC-ing Mandriva's cooker list, perhaps we'll get this hardware supported out of the box one day...

I recently switched from a stock BT828 based MythTV setup to a Plextor
TV402U, but seem to be stumbling at the final hurdle. I've managed to
get the TV402U working with my Mandriva PC (gorecord works fine), but
I don't understand how to get the channel information for recording
off the tuner input on the device.

I've used myth-setup and downloaded all the xmltv channel information
for my terrestrial signal here in the UK, but switching to Watch TV in
MythTV only produces the white-noise signal of an untuned channel. Is
it currently possible to use the tuner input on the TV402U? Or am I
missing something obvious?

Many thanks for any help or advice!
