I don't know if this is going to mislead you or help you but, once I've used mythfilldatabase to create the channels, I always end up manually setting the frequency of each channel to match those of my local transmitter. I used to do this using mythtvsetup's channel editor but now I do it using mythweb. I'm not sure if I missed a trick here, and the channel frequencies should have been automatically scanned but I couldn't make that happen.
