There are lots of channels, but it isn't cable-type programming. You are *not* going to get desirable things like US networks, HBO, ESPN, etc. If that's what you're after, then I'd recommend not going any further. Most of the programming on DVB-S is ethnic or temporary (for news uplinks, special events, etc). There is no EPG information either, so MythTV integration will be spotty at best.
That's really cool, is there linux software than can move the dish with DiSEqC over a coax cable? Are you using one of these setups with a myth machine? If so I would very much like to hear about it (dish type, card type, config info, etc).
Yes, there is Linux software to move the dish using DiSEqC commands. I am not using one, however I have used my Twinhan card with MythTV in the past.
The idea of it all is really cool, but unfortunately there's little to watch that's interesting. Being able to grab new signals is cool, but the novelty wears off when you realize there's nothing to watch :)
My Twinhan card has sat idle for months. Mike.
