I was thinking that you would use your cable box for one of the inputs and feed the cable directly into the other.

Anyhow, you seem to be downloading the wrong channel lineup.  The solution is to download the correct channel lineup.

By this, I mean I am feeding it into my PVR-500 card before the set-top box.
