In theory, the PVR-150 and the PVR-250/350 are the same hardware wise for the encoder. In principle, however, this is not the case. The tuner chip is different (I really wish Hauppauge would have put a digital tuner instead of the can tuner), and I think that the MPEG-2 encoder chip is different as well.
These two factors combine to a picture that isn't as great on my PVR-500 as it was on my PVR-250 or PVR-350. It might not be just a hardware issue either - it could be the tuner definitions in the software, I honestly don't know. I was going to do some testing with the equipment that we have here in the office, but it is good for digital signals only, not analog. At this point, I don't have any solutions, but in my case, the difference between my PVR-350 and my PVR-500 are night and day, but I also have a marginal cable signal. -- Joe --- Jeff Thurston <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > I am having a bit of trouble getting the PVR-150 > working well with > Myth 18.1 running on Fedora-4, IVTV 0.4.0. > I've looked for a while for a solution to this > problem but haven't come > up with anything. > > I recently bought a PVR-150 to add to my > existing backend/frontend > which has a PVR-350 working great. > The PVR-150 is working although there is alot of > static on all channels > as opposed to a very clean picture with the PVR-350. > I have tried switching the cable connections between > the two cards with > no change.
