Depends on what you want bugged about. I only do critical and recovery alerts for both hosts and services. I only want to know when the service goes down and comes back up. I don't really care about most unknown, warning, and flapping states, with a few exceptions. I wouldn't say there is a default for this, only want you want to get notifications about.
