To set up distributed Nagios installations, you can try Merlin: 
http://www.op5.org/community/plugin-inventory/op5-projects/merlin

In your case, I think that You should only open (on your firewall) the port 
that Merlin uses to contact other Nagios servers.

I use it, is exceptional.
