Subject: NailTech:: Re: Gel polish freakout!

In my experience adding pigments to gels makes them act weird and “crawly”
ß-technical term! Lol

Here are some things I’d like to offer on this thread:

-For colored gels….no matter the color (even white tips)…it’s recommended that
you put a FULLY CURED clear base down first. Then do your color layer(s) next.

-Always err to the side of caution by building color intensity with multiple
FULLY CURED thin layers rather than thicker layers.  The color pigments are
occlusive….the UV light simply cannot fully pass through colored gels to fully
cure the lower portion of a layer, let alone other layers that may lie beneath.
This leads to my next thing:

-When you are going to put any gel other than a completely clear coat over
another coat, be sure you FULLY CURE the lower layer before proceeding.

-Adding regular polish/lacquer to gels is something I’ve experimented with…you
can get very lovely sheer colors, but adding enough polish to make them opaque
changes the chemistry of the gels so much that the resulting nail enhancements
simply don’t hold up as well. I’d stick with sheers…or buying manufacturer’s
colors.

Hope this helps!!!
