Pati,

Since so many people are going to be there,  why don't you do hand massages for
say one dollar or a polish application with maybe onebling nail?  I did an
event and tried to add mini services and I mean to tell ya, it takes way too
long.  Keep it simple and get more people in your campsite.  I wish we could
all be there with ya.

This event sounds similar to the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life
events.  For those of you unfamiliar with Relay For Life:  Cancer does not
sleep so we stay up all night to help fight this battle.  Teams are created by
businesses, families, friends, churches, etc.  Each team has a campsite setup
around a track, where you can fundraise by selling food, services, games, etc.
and we walk around the track all night long.
Now Pati my suggestion would be something fast and simple that gets people in
and out fast at your tent, the longer per person, the less people you can
"service", simple nail art, hand/arm massages.  Now if you do feet, think about
the sanitation factor of foot spray, etc. also most might be wearing shoes and
socks.  You could offer foot massages.  I do like to idea of making business
cards or postcards with an offer not a discount, for instance free nail art or
paraffin dip, or even a free bottle of nail polish with a paid service (don't
we all have tons of extra polish sitting around).  Just some ideas.  I do know
that massages go over great and you don't have to take as many supplies with
you, plus I would be worried about spillage on the gym floor, not yourself
doing it but other adults and children could bump your supplies.  You've gotten
a lot of suggestions Good Luck!!!

Also if any of you have an opportunity to attend a local Relay For Life, then I
ask you to please go out a visit for a while.  A lot of them have great food to
offer.  This is a very important event to me as my mother died of lung cancer.
So I'm the chairperson for our local Relay For Life.

Jackie

hi...I think I need some suggestions please...
there is an "awake-a-thon" going to be at our local high school...in honor of
cancer survivors and their caretakers. Premise is cancer never sleeps and
neither will we till we find a cure!  Ok so I was asked to go (and of course I
will) but there is also an opportunity to do some fundraising there.  After the
dinner, "parade" and speeches...people will then go into the gym and stay at
their "campsite". It is there that you can fundraise...all money going to the
cause...I thought I might do some nail art, or polishing...or maaayybe some
bling toes. There will be like 600 people FROM THE COMMUNITY there.....I
thought I would pass out some cards at the same time...do you think that is
....how shall I say it, "taking advantage of the situation?" or smart
networking? I don't want to come across as the first way. I used to be well
known in the community, active in the schools PTA president, on committees, cub
scout secretary, pre-school teacher...etc...but
my kids are grown up now and I had moved away for awhile. This will be the
first time I am seeing alot of people in a long time. I need some suggestions
on what to do and how to present it.
(set-up...decorate... etc)
