Lynnette I'm sorry you're getting frustrated with the OPI and soak-offs in general. I bought two different OPI starter kits like Pati mentioned and they are a good deal. I can get a lot more than 5 sets out of one pot :-) If you use the brush that comes with the system (the little brush Pati mentioned) you use very little gel polish on each layer and it really helps with the application. FWIW I would not spend $20 either for an individual color. With the starter kit you get the base, top coat, the brush, the DVD and a small bottle of Bond Aid plus the 6 colors. You can do the math.
I also use Akzentz soak off gel polishes but hardly ever on the fingernails, mostly on toes, and I file that off every time because it is much quicker than soaking (for me). I guess all my clients are used to me using my efile so they don't care. To be honest I don't even advertise the products as 'soak off' I advertise them as "gel polish" and tout the benefits of that vs regular polish. When I do try to soak off the gel polishes, I usually end up filing the rest off. I probably don't wait long enough. I do know that when Elaine sent out her samples of the Star soak off gels, it said it soaks off in 5 minutes. I haven't tried soaking that one off yet, but maybe somebody on the list who got one of her samples can chime in. Anyway, that's all I got :-) Laura _____ From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Saturday, December 12, 2009 5:29 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: NailTech:: SO gels again!. So really this soak off gel is really not soak off at all????? Hmmmm....... I really do not want to spend lots of $$$$ trying to figure out which ones really do soak off, that is why I am asking for help here. Pati- I still think that those itty bitty pots of OPI are a rip off! I had to laugh-- so we can do maybe five sets with this??? LOL Thanks!!!! Lynnette, I was playing around with the OPI SOG...and bought 2 for 20.00 each...then I saw a starter kit...for 99.95 ..it has 6 colors (2 of which I had JUST bought) base coat, topcoat, bond aid, nas-99 and the little brush they use for the color. ...and OH what a difference that little brush makes!! It makes application soo easy and effortless. Not sure why probably cause it is small. But anyway 6 colors alone are usually 120.00 plus base and top....so starter kit is a GREAT deal. they also have dark color kits and light color kits that are more economical than purchasing separately. I think the starter kits come in light and dark also...I got the dark. I also had trouble removing the SOG... or as OPI calls them, lacquer... I soaked in acetone...it is supposed to come off in flakes...but it says in the instructions to NOT pry or pull off.....I used all their products and i still had trouble and it took a LONG time! But the plus side is...it is staying on her nails great and for much more than the usual week with polish so she is loving it! I was surprised because one of the ummm err ... "other" salons is advertising OPI SOG also...and getting 32.00 for each service! (I can't call it a NSS cause I don't know) BTW I also got a lot of those "received" emails ... I use AOL for this list. ok ...happy holidays! Pati 'Good friends are like stars... You don't always see them, But you know they are always there. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Sent: Sat, Dec 12, 2009 4:29 pm Subject: NailTech:: SO gels again!. Okay-- so I really hope others will chime in on the previous thread!! BUT-- I have other things going on: I picked up OPI SO base and OPI SO top coat. WOW!! $20 for that itty bitty teensy weensy container!!!!! What is the container made from, platinum???? Geezus!!! Well I know that is what all the chop shops in Chicago are using, I am just amazed that they will pay that!! OMG-- we definitely are being ripped off there!!! Cute little jars, but $20???? Did I mention how small they are?? LOL Then I get home and open the SO top coat and the damn bottle was cured!!! LMAO. I now have to go back to get a GOOD bottle! $20 for that too!!
