So, from what I have heard here.....most people are filing off SOG gels, which are more expensive that plain ole' coloured gels that we all know have to be filed off. I haven't been looking into this for more than a week, but it seems like it's hard to find a SOG line that has a good colour selection (other than axxium), whereas coloured gels have great selection. And now, I have to go back the cost issue, because axxium is so expensive....I am wondering why go with SOG over coloured gels.....what makes it different/better. I ordered the axxium kit in, which I was supposed to pick up today, but I held off cos' after all these postes today, I'm not so sure it's the best product line anymore.

I love the idea that I can charge an extra $10 for this (is that what you charge Lynette?).....I'm already planning all new art work to promote this as a new service....so I better choose a product line soon....keep the info coming!

I am not using a primer on the SOG. That was one of the reasons I opted to go this route for my natural nail clients.
*prep nails with sciver
*wipe with NAS
*OPi dehydrator (I am in bed and cannot remember the name of it)
*clear base axxium sog- 1 min cure
*color Sog-twice-2 min cure each time
*top coat shine- 3 min cure
This stuff does not file like powder like traditional gel. It peels.
The base is curing/sticking because I am having NO lifting or chips on any client in this unless they hold out for four weeks. Whatever you do, tell the client to NOT peel it off this will damage their nails. It has to be done professionally. Also, I do not recommend an acetone soak off on clients with thin nails. It looks awful and the nails look damaged. Just my observation!

I wonder how long it will be before that layer of sog starts to lift off? I hope it doesn't end up in a mess and thinning out the nails. I'm still skeptical that there will be no damage. Time will tell.

Lynnette and Michelle, Do you both use the same primer or whatever OPI recommends under the sog? Just wondering if that could be the difference.

Hey, Lynnette.... I use Axxium soak off base and soak off lacquer on natural nails and mine files off into a powder, doesn't peel. Could it be the base not totally sticking to the clients natural nail? Is that what you mean? At what stage of the mani do you apply the sog? (When I do sog over trad gel, I don't use the base, but it is clear where the trad gel starts, you can feel the difference when filing... I use all OPI Axxium....)
I dunno, dearie....

I used LE bonder, LE sog, then 2 coats of LE gel polish (which is not soak off) then LE super shiney. I filed off the color and when I hit the clear sog it was down good so I wasnt sure what to do. I figured it would be harder on the nails to file more.

It definitey dries them out. I just file off the color and leave the clear sog on.

I don't want to soak my clients nails in acetone. I think it would dry them out. Can you file off the color and leave the sog clear on the nail or do you have to remove that layer also?
