Pati,
I found it as a suggestion on Maggie's Facebook page-Notes. It was from another
tech.
After you cure the base, take a dry brush and wipe the tacky. It makes it
drier, supposedly for a better grip and no shrinking.
I am surely going to have to use Star colors tomorrow, so I will try that trick
first.
My sons GF told me tonight that when we did hers with Nailites chocolate, we
had shrinkage. I forgot, but she reminded me tonight when I told her I want to
try Rhonda's trick on her.
But again, NO shrinkage on OPI.
Waiting for the liquid Benadryl to kick in-watching Slash on the Lopez Show.
Buenos noches,
Lynnette

Lisa,
I did not have any clients that used Star after I read that. BUT, I did try the
dry brush trick that was on Maggie's Notes, on the OPI I just did. I have no
idea why I did that because my OPI does not shrink!!! LOL
I will try Rhonda's trick with the next one who uses the Star.
**Note to Star gals-- I am not putting your product down--I am just reporting
what has been going on with my experience.
BTW-- Nudey Patudey is RHE most popular color. Can I send back that awful
orange and that 80's pink for a white and a nudey??!!!! LOL--just kidding.

Lynnette,
Just wanted to let you know that I did a No-chip mani today and after I cured
the base coat, I wiped off the tacky layer. Rhonda was right the gel did not
shrink on me. So, that is good to know. (Thanks Rhonda!)
Also, I wanted to mention that I ordered a sample of the Gelife from Dashing
Diva and their top gel is the bomb! I like it much better than OPI. Cures in
2 minutes and it is super shiney...no dulling. JMHO I used it over Nailite SO.

Rhonda,
Wipe tacky and not buff? It will adhere?
I have had NO shrinkage with OPI or Nailite or NSI.
Thanks,
Lynnette

To prevent shrinkage with SOG colors, do your base of clear SOG, cure, then
remove the tacky layer, now apply your SOG color to this surface. You will not
have any shrinking and it will cure just fine :o)

It is not what is in them, it is the cost. It is NOT cost effective for me. I
believe you use CND's removal product or acetone on the pads.

Lynette,

So what is so different about the removal pads? What is in them other
acetone?

Okay- I was very disappointed that Shellac was not showcased for everyone to
see at the ABS. I did see it being shown in the VIP room we passed on
Sunday. So, how does one get in the VIP room?
I did get to see it along with Kira at LaShaun's salon. I just wanted it on
my nails!
Likes- goes on beautifully.
In a bottle
Cures pretty fast
High shine
CON- the removal pads. Although a great innovative idea, the cost is a
turn-off for me. I cannot justify $3 a pack PER client when I only charge $5
more to do my no chip manicures.
"Would-be" con- how much is wasted by being in a bottle.
Not sure if CND is insisting on using their light, but I already have enough
9 watt lights and do not need another one.
Star Nails Soak Off-
Pro- pretty inexpensive for 23 colors and a light
Ease of application
Cons:
No gel brush in kit
No color chart
No SO top coat****this is a very important step if you use SO
No directions
No white for french polish in deal kit
Colors not consistent with labels-so time is wasted opening up for client to
choose their color.
I have had shrinkage with EVERY single client who has used a Star color.
This is such a waste of time for me as I have to keep doing touch ups.
On the nail that was done on me at the show:
I wanted a French and it was done with a Cina pen. Glorified white out pen.
Sorry Star gals-it started to come off in two days.
AND- that is probably because of not having a SO top coat and regular top
coat was used. One of the main reasons I want a SO for my clients is so that
I do NOT have to use regular polish AT ALL. NO drying time!!!!
The product started to peel 10 days after application.
(I am scared now that my clients are all going to be calling that their
product is peeling off!!!)
Will write more later, but am getting ready to work!!
Buenos dias,
Lynnette
