Amen Lynnette....waterless is the way to go. I have been doing them for
about 4 years and love the sanitation and luxury of a waterless pedi. My
clients not only enjoy the heated moist towel wrap...but the extended massage
they are getting because they are not wasting their time soaking in a pool
of water. I stopped doing water pedi's after I took a pedicure safety
class from Nancy King. Hm......pulled off the knob that opens and closes the
drain.......pulled off the jets and the screen......black, thick, crude
oil....residue, I think not. This was the end of me putting clients in a tub
to soak their feet. This method also saves on my back :)....added bonus!

One more thing-- I go out of my way to be DIFFERENT than the chop shops
and local upscale NSS. They ALL have the thrones around here. And from what I
hear, not one, including the American NSS clean their thrones. I also know
that every single salon and chop shop reuse files and implements from
client to client. OR they have the boxes with the clients's names on them.
Eewwwwwwwwww!!!

Arpi and Ange,
I am such a talker- a good llistener too. But when I talk, I just do not
work as fast. I love it when my clients have their earpice bluetooth in and
get calls!! I get done so much faster.
Ladies, it is YOUR business/knowledge to pass along to your clients.
I have told this story before-- when I first opened my salon I was whining
to my DH about getting a throne. He asked- what is the client coming for,
the throne or YOU giving the pedicure? Put me in my place and real fast.
Those thrones and pedi tubs do NOT make the pedicure.
I also let them know that this is MUCH more sanitary for them and even
though I am quite clean, this makes it ZERO chance to get anything from my
place! They can get all the bacteria and fungus and cooties from all the chop
shops and the other american run upscale NSS.
The callus eliminator also is on longer this way.
You are all doing just fine!
Buenos dias,
Lynnette

I have to work on my time also. This has always been a problem with me and
it seems to get worse as I get older. I run into this with every aspect of
my life though. I take my time and make sure things are perfect. I drive
myself nuts.

Now if I paid for a mani and pedi and was rushed out in 45 min. I would
feel ripped off. I would think an hour and 15 min to 30 min. is appropriate,
unless it is an express. How could you give pampering at all in 45 min.

Lynnette,

That's great! I have to work on my time, and like you said, l should talk
less, even though I try to let them do the talking, but if I look up less,
I would do better time... One of my new clients said that she received a
mani/pedi in 45 minutes (for $35-that's why I asked her how long did it all
take?). I couldn't imagine doing a mani/pedi in 45 minutes, I might call it
an "Express mani/pedi" and charge accordingly...

Arpi,
I set most of my clients on the hour. I am not going to kill myself more
than I already am with clients!! LOL.
>From start to finish it is about 50 minutes. Faster if I do not talk! Ha
ha. I am happy with my times.
I only book waxings less than that. Brazilians take less than 15 but I
book at least 30. And if I want to go eat or take the puppy out, I close up
for the rest of the hour!!

How long does it take for you to do a regular pedicure?
It takes me an hour, and half an hour for a mani.

Why do you think the soak is a luxury? Once the client experiences the
warmth of the heated towels, they forget about the soak.
My pedis start at$33. Most only get that pedi.
It is all how you present it Heather. You can make it however luxurios you
want it to be. The soak/throne to me is just window dressing. The pedi
comes from YOU and not the soak.

What are you all charging for waterless pedis? My pedis start at 35 and
go up to 60.00. I do 't think you can get top dollar without a soak. I
wouldn't pay 50.00 for an upgraded pedi and not have a soak. That is part of
the luxury of the service to me.

One more reason to go waterless!!! LOL
I had a client tell me that the dry pedi was not good and did not work.
HUH?
Okay- when she saw her calllus was not all that great aftwr I drug that
damn tub out, she said that *I* was right. Ya' think? She just wanted to
splash the water. I wanted to tell her to go home and splash her feet in her
blankety- blank tub!
NO splashing or toes in jets! Waterless is the way to go!

I have a couple of pedi bits for my efile. They don't work as good as this
gadget. Plus, I don't have to drag my e file back and forth to my pedi
room. I had my extra e file in my pedi room for this purpose, but after a
while the moisture and occassional splash ruined it. Why do clients always
have to stick their toes in the jet holes?
