Well, I think I’m gonna change my answer, but I am wondering just how long the
oil would take to get to the nail…
Common sense would say that it takes time for a small molecule oil to penetrate
just like it takes time for acetone to soak off.

So I’d think that getting oil in the cuticle and the underside of the nail
would
be much quicker and effective…
I’ve CC’d Doug on this post…

So we have a "yes" and a "no"! Perhaps it's time to call in Doug to get the
real
skinny!! I posed this question several years ago and never got a difinitive
answer.

No.  But you can apply the oil to the underside of the nail and it will
penetrate that way….

......which brings me to raise another statement/question. Regular, hard gel
does not allow penetration of oils like Solar Oil. Correct? Now, with these
new SOGs in use, will they allow penetration of oil down to the nail plate?

The SOG’s have a tendency to make natural nails curl.  Even when it is on the
nail.  Squeezes a beautiful c-curve into the free edge.  The reason for this is
as the SOG gets old, it shrinks.  As it shrinks, it curls.  Eventually it
releases from the nail and you have lifting at the tip.  The solution is to
soak
off or file off every 4 weeks.  4-8 weeks is the magic number for SOG.  I got
this info from a chemist who manufactures nail products.

And YES, before I get arguments…using cuticle oil to keep the natural nail
flexible DOES help! ;)

I have found this to be true for my clients also.  White spots, curling at free
edge, a few SOG coming off on a few nails.  It seems to get worse every time I
do a soak off manicure.  I have been buffing with oil before reapplying and
that
has helped, but it seems to be worse on some clients.

Weird nails after sog came off.  My clients nails curled so tight they were
touching side to side.  Touching c curve!  I don't know why that happened.  The
first time I soaked her nails they didn't do that.

Different client called she has 3 sog's off.  I didn't prime her nails because
she comes in every 2 wks.  She said the free edge is peeling off.  I primed her
nails the last 2 times.   No problems.  I will start priming the free edge of
her nails.  Just like you girls have said!!

Question on the cuticle oil before applying the sog...

soak the sog off
buff the nail with oil then wash nails and use finishing wipe?

The oil and water concerns me with lifting and peeling.  I've seen white spots
on every client that I have soaked off.  Each time there are more spots.
