I am thinking that there are two reasons that layering the gel with polish works: 1--the heat from the lamp speeding the evaporation of solvents from the polish. 2-- that applying gel over polish could bond to the polish before it is dry-- similar to mixing your polish with gel only instead of mixing them together before you apply it layers that way (sorry guys- my comma key did not make it back from ISSE in working condition- I'm not really typing in irritating run-on sentences.) So if you apply a layer of gel over a layer of polish that might allow the gel to bond to the polish enough that they would cure together-- especially if the gel is formulated in a manner that allows it to penetrate the polish more thoroughly in this manner... Make sense? But I'm very excited to try this with my current products!

To: [email protected] Date: Tuesday, February 1, 2011, 2:19 PM dont buy it quite yet, maggie :) let me confirm with jim. i think the key is the heat from the lamp with only two layers of polish. michele must have been distracted by the smell of the bacon when jim covered this :D:D:D i think you also want to make sure youre working with a good bottle of polish. right now i have a nail done this way. i used the kudos gentle top coat and it seems to be holding up just dandy! now my next experiment will be on the daughter :) denise In a message dated 2/1/2011 11:01:12 A.M. To: [email protected] Date: Monday, January 31, 2011, 10:19 AM looks to me, like polish sandwiched in between a soak off gel. jim from l.e. mentioned being able to do this the last time i was at an hrte. the secret is the pilish curing in the lamp for 3 minutes. that gives all the solvents a chance to get the heck on outta there. the soak off gel is also a lot more flexable, just like the polish. and once you cure that first layer, you dont have over exposure issues. hmmmmm..............i have an experiment to try :) ill let ya know how it goes!! denise In a message dated 1/31/2011 10:04:48 A.M.
