Register with whom? I never heard of that, most banks will allow you to open a
business account as long as you have a EIN and your state license? Was this a
small bank?

Subject: NailTech:: Registering Your Business Name with your state

Hi Techs,
I went to open a business checking acct at a different bank yesterday and was
told that I could NOT open a business checking acct because I wasn't
"registered" with the state of Ohio! I had brought my vendors lic. , but the
lady said that that only proves I pay taxes and that I had never "registered"
my business name in Ohio ! WTH is this!? I asked her why I would register my
name after 20 years of doing nails under this name. She gave me an example of
a bank client who didn't register his name, ex. Ohio Carpet Cleaning, and when
a competitor opened a business under the same name and REGISTERED it with Ohio,
the original business owner had to CHANGE his business name, repaint his signs,
his trucks, re-do his business cards, etc. Of course, there is a $50 fee to
"register" your business name with Ohio! This is all news to me, what do ya'll
think? When I register, is it going to bring an avalanche of paperwork down on
me? What changes besides the fact that no one else can use your name?
