I work out of my home. I have a wonderful little nail studio downstairs. My
husband is a contractor so..it might be easier for us to do that than you, but
in my last home in NY, I turned an extra bedroom into a nail studio. Aldo, my
husband, put a sink in 1 of the 2 closets..so clients could wash and I could
drain my pedi tub. I had a portable european touch petite spa.... and 2 nail
tables in the room. We put shelves into the other closet for storage.
In my present home, the studio has it's own entrance and it's own 1/2 bath and
I have a spa chair for my pedis. My sister-in-law was remodeling her kitchen
and suggested that Aldo bring her old cabinets home and put them in my studio.
Great idea.. I purchased a ready made counter top from home depot and voila...
great looking storage. (and counter)
In both studios he installed a bathroom exhaust fan in the wall near my
station, which I put on when doing acrylics. I have 3 windows in my present
studio also...so smells are not a problem at all..
I LOVE working at home....

thanks for the well wishes and advice, everyone! For 18yrs I have been
very dedicated to my nail business-working 12-14 hour days, staying up
nights researching new nail ideas. Now that I'm 37, married, and
prego, I am looking to find more balance and it is affirming to hear
you professionals who are serious about your career give encouragement
about babies/family. Has anybody ever worked from home? Like maybe on
the down low, just a select group of clients who you like? Also
wondering about paying booth rent while I am out for maternity leave.
OUCH! Good for you, Cira. That's so funny; "baby hater". I KNOW! I
have NO experience even holding them!, but we are soooo excited!
