Everyone's responses are soooo funny! It looks like we've all been
there, done that! I also had a client who put her cell phone in her
lap and down it went into the pedi tub....it was clean, but dead.
Sometimes my clients will apologize if they have to answer the phone,
others will just grab their phone, some will not answer when they see
it's a non-essential call, but the vast majority are very courteous
about not using it at the nail table. Probably because they see ME not
answering my phone during THEIR appointment!

I have a friend/client who sometimes will put in her ear piece and
flap her gums on the phone thru the entire appointment, which I feel
is rude, but what the heck.....I get done faster not wasting time
talking, too, and sometimes her conversations are a hoot. One time I
had a client hold her phone to her ear and talk thru the entire hour
appointment as we did the "back and forth hand shuffle". It was
hilarious because I could tell she was flirting with a new guy and
close to the end of the appointment she says to him "Well, I better
get off here before Jill my nail tech thinks I'm rude" and I piped up
loudly "Too late for that!". She laughed and I laughed, but the point
was made because that sort of thing never happened again.

Only once in all the decades I've been doing nails has a phone call
come in that was a true emergency. A client's husband had suffered a
medical problem and she fled the salon with her acrylic fills half
finished......as in I was JUST about to apply the first ball of
acrylic when she bolted. I just worked her in later to finish them and
it was totally understandable that she had to leave quickly. How
horrible for her having to be seen in public with her half broke down
fills!
