Well that is my thought! Their little cuticles are usually half way down their
nails, there’s usually a huge hang nail or three and there is always crud
under the very short nails that’s hard to get out. And they don’t sit still!
But more than once, a parent/grandma has shown reluctance when I told them the
charge, “But they’re just kids!” they say. As if being a bag of wiggle worms is
due a discount! lol

Thanks for the input....I really wanted to know if some of you catered to this
crowd...

Karen

I agree with Katherine . I don't work on children's nails, however, the couple
of times I did I charged full price, kids nails are worse than adults .

My general rule is that I do not do any "service" on anyone under 16 years
old. If they cannot drive themselves to their appointment I will not be
bothered with them. I am not a babysitter. If my client has her underage
daughter or granddaughter with her on her appointment time and I have the time
to put a coat of polish on the child within the paying clients appointment
time, I will polish the child's nails at no charge. No manicure, no filing the
nails, 2 coats of polish and 1 coat of top coat, no charge. I don't care if the
child is male or female, same rules. I've done this several times over the
years.

However, Rules are made to be broken. IF my long term client brings her
child, 12 or older, I will do a full manicure on the child IF the
mother/grandmother/aunt/adult is also getting a service right before or after
the child's appointment, for the full adult manicure price. I have done this
exactly 1 time in 25+ years of doing nails.

  That's my rules.

I have a client who's son liked to get his nails painted when he came with
mommy to her nail appointment. He usually choose blue or green, sometimes black
or gray. He's 8 now and no longer interested in getting his nails painted even
though he still comes with mom to her nail appointments.

Had a situation in the salon today...Children's manicures.....
Mom came for a wax, brought 6 yr old daughter. Estie asked if I could "just
do some sparkles...no manicure...just sparkles." 1. What would your child's
mani consist of? 2. Would you do a mani before polishing? 3. How long would it
take 4. How much would you charge? 5. Would you ever do Shellac on a child? 6.
Would you do a boy or girls only? Comment on any or all questions, please!
