In-Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Would you please put out a notice that the St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Council is not the Mohawk Nation and can't ever be. The tribal council was formed by NY State and has continually been a factor to try to force, suppress and wipe out the traditional council who are known as the Mohawk Nation Council of Chiefs. As well, the tribal council has no standing with the traditional Haudenosaune Confederacy (Iroquois) and continually undermine sovereignty by pretending the tribal council can be the Mohawk Nation when in fact they are a creation of New York State (Article 8, 1802). The tribal council are not the signators or heirs to any treaties and their system is based on New York State law. Their jurisdiction is limited to the "American" portion of the Akwesasne, whereas there are 8 Mohawk Territories in which the Mohawk Nation Council of Chiefs deal with.
