BRIAN HOUSE death in police custody Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Tuesday, September 14, 1999 Family wants answers after arrested man dies By NICOLE BERGOT, EDMONTON SUN The family of a man who died after being plucked from a ditch on the Enoch reserve want answers from cops who picked him up. Enoch resident Brian House, 31, died Sunday afternoon at University hospital after officers at the Stony Plain RCMP detachment found him unresponsive in his cell Saturday morning. Cousin Jack Ward said the RCMP haven't given House's common-law wife, Connie Cardinal, or other family members any information about what happened in the cell before the man died. An autopsy is set for today at the Edmonton medical examiner's office. House was arrested Friday night for public intoxication and three outstanding Edmonton police arrest warrants. Despite his checkered past, Ward said House was an outgoing musician who planned to one day tour the country with his guitar. "He was a great person who always made you laugh. He was very open-minded," said Ward. A memorial service for House will be held Thursday in Enoch, 19 km west of Edmonton. Stony Plain RCMP and the RCMP major crimes unit in Edmonton continue to investigate. "Let Us Consider The Human Brain As A Very Complex Photographic Plate" 1957 G.H.
