The mast and cross beams were designed by us with a lot of help from the composites group, at the space department. As for honeycomb/ facesheet bonding. It is true that most panels are bonded using heat setting film adhesives. But, this is primarily to save weight. (Epoxy is heavy, by space and aviation standards!) But, you could make these sandwiches at room temperature, with mechanical pressure, during setting.
