[Neomagic] Strange behaviour of certain X programs on Debian on a Dell LatitudeXPi P133ST

All,
Here's the question:
I'm running debian on this little system. Everything generally works well except for a couple of things.
Somehow when I run Lyx and Galeon, the colors "invert" inside the window, when the focus is in the window, then the colors inside the window becomes normal, but everything else are inverted.
A solution would be very nice, but at least an explanation would be good too.
