James,

I have seen discussions of the Supertex parts but it seems like no one
has really settled on how to actually use one in a real design (I've
never seen a schematic that used one either). I like the idea of
combining the 74141 and the 595's into a single chip but without a
"approved by experts" design, I'm afraid if I built one, it would just
burn up in a month.

Also. I did manage to find a MK1.5 design at
http://zapro.dk/public/Nixie_SMPS_V1_5/
so thanks! :) I just don't like the idea of some storebought module
sitting in a clock I designed myself. I like the fact that the mk1.5
is somewhat tolerant of component placement.
