Had an 8091 in my stock with a couple marginal cathodes. There was a small amount of poisoning on the '5', '8', and '2'. Zapped them with a sustained helping of about 12ma each which cleaned them right up. Strange things is, the process seemed to rejuvenate all the others and make them all noticeably brighter and 'fatter'. I had never experienced this before, but then I have never done this to an 8091 before either. Anyone have an idea as to why this might happen? I would think just the opposite might occur with the other numerals suffering? Not that I'm complaining! I must admit these American made tubes (Burroughs/National) are a pleasure to work with and very robust. I'm sure many of you have tried in vain to do this to an IN-18 and given up as i have.
