I had a larger one up to a few years ago, until I was careless and let it get broken, that ran on 120 VAC and had a standard edison base like regular light bulbs for household use. The bulb was about 2 inches in diameter. I think it was from the 1950's. No idea what it's intended use was, because it produced very little light.
