Hi Tommy
The main thing to be careful of when you reassemble your Elite is
making sure the connectors for the ribbon cables go back on properly.
The common errors are:
- connector off by one pin
- connector on correctly but with a pin either bent over across its
neighbours or sticking out in front of the connector.
Both of these will make the console behave badly.
On other questions:
Yes you can run the console without all of the modules in it.
No there's not a lot that needs calibrating.
If you want to add a 2-mix insert, you can buy one of my kits.
I have a neotek Essence in the shop that I was thinking of rebuilding
into a summing mixer. If you want we could look at building a custom
configuration to meet your needs.

seen a few broadcast consoles with names that escape me at the
moment, but they seemed to have a bunch of line summing and a
limited number of channels. It intends to be setup mainly for
mixing, ideally summing 16 channels. Do most of these consoles have
similar headroom to a Neotek Elite? We're really looking to expand
our workflow and having one smaller Elite-esque to hand off to mix
to after tracking on the larger Neotek, and would love to hear
people's experiences with these consoles, and maybe even an idea of
what they usually go for on the market.
