Hey All- So, I have some questions....alot actually. I am not a trained engineer, so please pardon any of my shortcomings. Okay, I have a mid-80's Series 2 console. I had it hooked up just utilizing the basics. I had mics in, sent to subs, subs out to computer. What I am trying to do now, is actually utilize evrything the board has to offer. Hmm. Okay, so my predicaments......
I had not used any "foldback" features on the board. I am still not completely sure of this function. My guess is that next to each mic/line in is these a,b,c,d knobs. The A and B are to act as headphone monitor controls? Does the board....this is going to sound real dumb.....does the board have a built in echo unit. The c and d are echo levels it says. Also, there 2 channels that are ER, which is Echo Return. My goal is to have the line in, sent to the subs to go out, but also to this foldback thing so each player can monitor/adjust what they are hearing the other players doing. I have the signal going to the computer, and I have it returning to the board,but the affects I use on the computer are not being heeard when I return it back to the board. I would ideally like the musician to be able to play and in real time hear what this, in essense, is a piece of outboard gear is adding to the sound. I hope this makes sense. If anyone would just want to tell me their signal flow choices, that would be informative too. It just seems that now with the foldback in the picture, the signal is being split up in so many places, and I am kind oflosing track of what is actually in control of the signal going out. Also, like I said I cant seem to understand why the signal going to the comp. is not playing the added affects in real time on the foldback mix. Okay, thanks, Colby
