Sorry to send this for a third time, but I am truly stuck. Can someone
please explain to me how I would go about using NTP log into the nessusd
server and have it give me the results for the detached scan. As it is now
when I request to restore that session it saves the session back to the HD.

Can this be done? From the documentation I assumed so.

Subject: Retreiving Session List

To All:

I am trying to retreive a saved session via NTP. When I send the command
"CLIENT <|> SESSION_RESTORE <|> 20011220-222347 <|> CLIENT" the server
responds with "SERVER <|> BYE <|> BYE <|> SERVER" and my session is restored
to the hard drive under another session name. I assume this is because
save_session is enabled. Do I need to send a list of preferences to the
server with "save_session = no" to get it to stream the results back across
the socket? Do I need to send the entire list of preferences, or just the
ones I want to change? If I do send these new preferences do I need to
re-send the old prefs before my next scan with "save_session = yes"? Or is
their an easier way to get nessusd to re-read the nessusd.conf?

On another note it appears that all the child nessusd processes that the
main nessusd kicks off go defunct after they finish. They do not appear to
clean up until another scan is started or the parent process is killed. Has
anybody else seen this. I am runnung nessus 1.0.10 on SuSE 7.3.

Thanks in advance

Peter Akre
