Wow - didn't think that such a simple question could spark such a debate :) I was well aware that there are a lot of variables in doing a scan - thanks for all the replies however. I guess I'll have to do some measuring. I'll scan about 20 hosts in different places over the course of a day and try and get some sort of average for our setup. If anyone is interested i'll publish that to the list.
