script attached. copy this script in /etc/init.d, edit it to suit your setup; you can then activate it with update-rc.d, e.g. update-rc.d nessusd defaults (man update-rc.d for details) of course do this as root. be aware that this script is a quick hack to suit my need, that is running the daemon at startup and occasionally restarting it; it does not check anything but the existence of the daemon binary. implementing checks is trivial, I will do it for you if you want. did you compile nessus? I thought the standard debian package included a /etc/init.d script... you may check just in case. --andrew
