Plugin update on OS X

Hello,
     sorry I am a *nix newby, I successfully installed Nessus 1.2.6 on a Mac OS X 10.2 
(Jaguar) using the .sh installation file.

I can connect using a Windows client an I can perform tests, but I am unable to update 
plugins:

Error $fetch_cmd or $gzip are not set - abort

Any help is appreciated.
