A little (lot) more information would be helpful.

- - HOW did you install nessus? (with what method - did you use the 
script, compile from sources, etc)

- - What exact commands did you use to configure it after you installed 
it? 

- - How did you try to invoke the daemon?

- - What is your $PATH variable? (echo $PATH should tell you that)
