nessusd.messages shows nothing abnormal. looks like status messages. last 2 before the hang are:

[Sat Mar 8 06:05:53 2003][19426] mssql_brute_force.nasl (process 19494) finished its job in 0.023 seconds
[Sat Mar 8 06:06:13 2003][19426] Finished testing 128.32.64.154. Time : 351.94 secs

the nessusd.debug has lots of these entries.

[19426] comm_send_status(4): receiving ACK failed! Maybe we should exit now [Interrupted system call]

the hang seems consistent in that it will happen with a lot of plugins enabled and also with few plugins enabled. also when as few as 5 hosts are selected.

when it hangs, the nessusWX client loses communication with the server to the point selecting disconnect won't close any session. the client must be closed completely.

at first i thought the client connection was severed, but i installed a client on a machine on hte same segment and it hangs as well.

thanks for the help.

Nessus provides you with gdchart, so it's normal.

This is not the cause of your problem.
