In slackware 8.1 the package is xfree86-devel-4.2.0-i386-3.tgz i believe (didnt even know i'd installed it till now ;) and its in the X software series. (this has been updated in the patches/packages dir of slackware-8.1 to xfree86-devel-4.2.1-i386-2.tgz so you may want the newest one.)
